Van 22 t/m 24 mei 2020 is de negende editie van The Amsterdam Trail, waarbij werk van hedendaagse kunstenaars bij etnografica-galeries te zien is. De Trail is een route die loopt van het Spiegelkwartier tot aan het Amstelveld.
Dit jaar werken we samen met de Thami Mnyele stichting die hun 30 jarig bestaan vieren. Daarom hebben we alumni uitgenodigd om hun werk tijdens de Trail te exposeren. De stichting Thami Mnyele biedt een artist-in-residence-programma van drie maanden in Amsterdam aan. Het hoofddoel van de Stichting is het bevorderen van een culturele uitwisseling tussen kunstenaars uit Afrika en de diaspora, Nederland en in het bijzonder Amsterdam.
From 22-24 of May 2020, The Amsterdam Trail will take place. The Trail is a walking route from Amsterdam’s Spiegel Quarter to the Amstelveld. For the 9th year running galleries specialized in object from Indonesia, Tibet, Oceania and Africa have invited artists to exhibit their work in between the ethnographic objects. This year the Thami Mnyele foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary and The Amsterdam Trail has therefore invited alumni to show their work. The foundation Thami Mnyele offers a three month artists-in- residence program in Amsterdam. The main objective of the Foundation is to advance cultural exchange between artists from Africa and the diaspora, the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular.
